We are approaching the local strawberry season once again...

Did you know that...

52% of 7 to 9-year-olds agree - strawberries are their favourite fruit. (One of their 5-a-day!).

Unique among their peers for having their (200) seeds on the outside, strawberries are a member of the rose family and can help you whiten your teeth. (No bad thing with the cost of dental bills!)

The red tastebombs can also come in white or yellow and can taste like pineapples. (Never seen these before...)

In medieval times stonemasons carved strawberry designs to denote perfection and righteousness. (mmm...)

Romans thought they could cure all kinds of ailments while the French saw them merely as an aphrodisiac. (What can I add to that ?)

And, for the weight-conscious, one can ditch the cream and flavour your strawb's with black pepper - delicious apparently...if slightly less moreish.

So knock yourself out - buy local!
