40 Years of Women Ministers
Home News Calendar Forum Library
By Sarah Ross - May 13th, 2008

This year we celebrate the Ruby anniversary of the ordination of women in the Church of Scotland. Nowadays, the majority of us don't think anything about women being ministers especially as Lanark Presbytery has the highest proportion of female ministers in Scotland. Yet in some areas of Scotland it is still difficult to be a female minister. It may be difficult in some areas to be a male minister too!

As part of the celebration, women ministers from all over submitted a piece of worship material that they had written to a team who sorted through them, and put them in a book. There are 54 contributers on very diverse topics and different styles of material. On behalf of Forth St Paul's Rev Sarah Ross entered a worship theme and the final sermon from the series on colour we did in the summer of 2005. Her sermon was printed and is her first published piece of work. Will anymore follow? Watch this space.

The sermon - about the Peacock Butterfly and the church is in the Library if you want to have a read.

The book is available from Christian Bookshops and St Andrew Press, priced at £14.99. However if you just want a peek, then there is a copy in the Church. All profits go to Christian Aid.
