Description
This C(s) listed building, situated above Airdrie Library in Wellwynd is one of only two public observatories in the UK. The Observatory is owned by North Lanarkshire Council and operated by the Airdrie branch of the Association in Scotland To Research into Astronautics (ASTRA). The original telescope was donated to Airdrie Library by local astronomer Doctor Reid. The Observatory also has a number of smaller telescopes which can be used for dark sky sites for observation sessions. There will be a presenation at 13.00 given by ASTRA.
